India faced a big setback just before lunch on Day 3 of the third Test at Lord’s. Rishabh Pant was run out after building a solid 141-run partnership with KL Rahul. The unfortunate dismissal came due to a mix-up between the two batters.
In the last over before lunch, England spinner Shoaib Bashir bowled a delivery around the off-stump. Pant played it towards the off-side. KL Rahul called for a run, but Pant reacted late. England’s captain Ben Stokes, fielding at cover, quickly grabbed the ball and threw it straight at the stumps. Pant couldn’t make it in time and was run out.

The run-out seemed to be KL Rahul’s mistake, as he was eager to keep the strike. Pant hesitated and was caught short. The wicket broke an important partnership, and England celebrated the breakthrough right before the break.

India went into lunch at 248 for 4. Rahul remained unbeaten on 98, while Pant was dismissed for a well-played 74.
Earlier in the day, India had resumed their innings at 145 for 3. Rahul and Pant batted confidently, slowly cutting down England’s first-innings lead of 242 runs. They brought the deficit down to 139 runs.
Rahul looked classy throughout his innings, playing elegant drives and flicks. One of his best shots was a backfoot punch off Brydon Carse. Pant also played aggressively, reaching his fifty with a six off Ben Stokes.
The five-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1.
