
Kolkata Metro has announced that metro services to the city’s airport will start next week. A 6.77 km stretch of the Yellow Line, between Noapara and Jai Hind Bimanbandar (Airport), is ready for passengers.
This new line has four stations – Noapara, Dum Dum Cantonment, Jessore Road, and Jai Hind Bimanbandar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this stretch on August 22, along with two other new metro routes:
- Sealdah–Esplanade section (Green Line)
- Ruby Crossing–Beleghata section (Orange Line)
- Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar section (Yellow Line)
Metro officials said the new line will make it much easier and faster for people to reach Kolkata Airport. The project has cost about ₹1,866 crore.
Station Details:
- Jessore Road station is built on the ground.
- Noapara and Dum Dum Cantonment stations are on elevated tracks.
- Jai Hind Bimanbandar (Airport) station is underground.
People living in areas like Baranagar, Tobin Road, Sinthee, Dum Dum, Nagerbazar, and Kaikhali More will benefit the most, as they can easily travel to different parts of the city. Noapara station also connects with the Blue Line, which runs till Kavi Subhash, making travel across the city simpler.
The new stations will have modern facilities such as ticket counters, seating areas, elevators, and other passenger-friendly amenities.
