Kolkata rape case is now making headlines for another shocking reason. The prime accused, Monojit Mishra, says the scratch marks on his body are not from a fight. He claims they are just “love bites.” But the medical reports and CCTV footage tell a different story.

The crime happened on June 25 at South Calcutta Law College. A 24-year-old law student was allegedly gang-raped inside a security guard’s room. Four people have been arrested so far — Monojit Mishra, Zaib Ahmed, Pramit Mukherjee (all students), and the college security guard, Pinaki Bandyopadhyay.

Lawyer’s Shocking Claim

Monojit’s lawyer, Raju Ganguly, told the media something surprising.

“I asked Monojit about the scratches on his body,” Ganguly said. “He removed his shirt, and I saw one mark on his neck. He told me it was a love bite.”

He added that police took Monojit away before he could ask more questions. Ganguly also said that he didn’t see nail marks and that the police should check the victim’s phone and call records.

“I’m not sure this is even a rape case,” Ganguly said. “Let’s wait till July 20.”

Medical Reports Say Otherwise

However, medical evidence doesn’t support Monojit’s story. Police sources told PTI that the injuries on Monojit’s body are fresh and clearly caused by nails. This shows the victim tried to fight back.

Doctors also confirmed the woman was assaulted. Her medical report shows forceful penetration, bite marks, and scratch injuries. CCTV footage from the college shows the woman being dragged inside the premises by the accused.

This case is not just about crime. It’s about truth vs image. Monojit and his lawyer are now painting a different picture — trying to say it was not rape but maybe a consensual act. But the medical reports and video evidence say something else.

This is not the time to play the victim card. It’s the time to find the truth.
