Fire engines from four nearby stations reached the spot quickly, but the fire had already spread and destroyed a large number of garments. Thankfully, all customers and shop workers were safely evacuated, and no one was hurt.
Later, more fire engines from eight other stations were called, and emergency help was requested from nearby districts. Police officers and rescue volunteers also joined the firefighters in controlling the fire.
Following the instructions of the fire officials, shopkeepers moved dangerous items like LPG cylinders away from the area to avoid further danger. Because of the thick smoke, it was hard for rescue teams to reach the upper floors, so firefighters had to break windows to get inside.
Senior police officers and officials from the Revenue Department arrived to help with the rescue and manage the crowd. It took more than an hour and a half to bring the fire under control on one side of the building.

District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh, who was present at the scene, said all fire stations in the area—including the one at Calicut International Airport—were asked to help. He confirmed that there were no injuries, as there were fewer people shopping on Sunday.
