Larsen & Toubro has bagged major orders—classified as “Significant” (₹1,000–2,500 crore)—for water infrastructure projects in Rajasthan. The contracts were awarded to L&T’s Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) business by the Public Health Engineering Department of the state.
This is more than just another big win for L&T. It’s a strong step toward solving water shortages in rural Rajasthan.

What Does It Mean for the People?
These projects are not just about pipes and pumps. They aim to bring clean, safe drinking water to 285 villages and towns like Surajgarh and Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu district.
Imagine a child no longer walking miles for water, or a family not boiling every drop before drinking it. That’s the real impact.
What’s in the Project?
L&T will handle everything end-to-end under an EPC contract. That includes:
- Laying 5,251 km of transmission and distribution pipelines
- Building 38 ground-level reservoirs (40 million liters total)
- Setting up 132 overhead tanks (25 million liters total)
- Installing 20 pump houses

Another project focuses on upgrading the water system between Kekri and Sarwar in Ajmer district. It includes laying 43 km of pipelines and major upgrades to automation, instrumentation, and control systems.
Also in the scope:
- 1-year defects liability period
- 10 years of operations & maintenance
- Advanced SCADA automation systems
Why It Matters
This isn’t L&T’s first rodeo. The company has already delivered 24 similar water projects in Rajasthan. That’s a legacy, not a fluke.
And let’s be honest—clean water isn’t a luxury. It’s a right. While some startups pitch luxury hydration for city elites, L&T is out there solving actual thirst in India’s driest states.
These orders show that India’s infrastructure push isn’t just flyovers and expressways—it’s basic needs, done right. And L&T continues to prove it knows how to deliver, not just promise.
