Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has suffered a major legal setback. The Calcutta High Court has ordered him to pay ₹4 lakh every month to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and daughter Aaira.
As per the court ruling, Shami must pay ₹1.50 lakh per month to Hasin and ₹2.50 lakh to their daughter. What’s more shocking is that this amount will be counted from 7 years ago, which means Shami will now have to pay a huge pending amount as well.

The case was filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. The court has also asked the lower court to close the case within six months.
Past Emotions, Present Problems
Shami, who has played 64 Tests, 108 ODIs, and 25 T20Is for India, had recently posted an emotional photo with his daughter Aaira. He met her after a long gap and wrote on Instagram:
“Time stood still when I saw her again after long time. Love you more than words can say, Bebo.”
The post went viral and got over 1.6 lakh likes in an hour. But Hasin Jahan wasn’t pleased.
In a fiery statement to Anandabazar.com, she said the meeting was a “show-off.” She claimed Shami did not sign the form needed for Aaira’s passport renewal, and that’s the only reason the meeting happened.
“He took her to a shopping mall, to a store where he advertises. He doesn’t have to pay there. She got shoes and clothes, but he didn’t buy her the guitar or camera she wanted.”
Hasin added that Shami rarely talks to their daughter and that he only posted the video because he had nothing else to share.
Old Scandals Still Haunt
This is not the first time Mohammed Shami has faced personal trouble. Hasin Jahan had earlier made serious allegations, including match-fixing, which even led to an investigation by the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit. Shami was cleared eventually, but the controversy hurt his public image.
Professionally, he has always been respected for his skills as a seamer. But off the field, he’s been battling legal and personal storms.
What’s Next for Shami?
While he continues his recovery and remains out of the India vs England Test series, this court order adds another heavy burden. The total maintenance, calculated from seven years ago, could reach crores of rupees.
This case is not just about money. It’s also about parenting, responsibility, and public image. As one of India’s top cricket names, everything Shami does—on and off the field—is in the spotlight.
