Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has strongly criticized the BJP over the comments made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey about the Supreme Court and its Chief Justice. She called it “India’s lowest hour to be ruled by ignorant bullies.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Moitra said, “Remember, a pitbull does nothing without its master’s command. It’s clear that there are attacks on the judiciary. This is a bold attempt to pressure the court. India is at its lowest point when ignorant bullies are in control.”

Dubey had made controversial remarks, accusing the Supreme Court of “inciting religious wars” and questioning its power to make laws. He said, “If we have to go to the Supreme Court for everything, then we should shut down Parliament and State Assemblies.”

He also said, “If the Supreme Court can make laws, then Parliament should be closed.” Dubey further criticized the court for overstepping its authority, suggesting that the Supreme Court was trying to take control of the country and push it towards chaos.
In response to the growing criticism from opposition parties, BJP leaders like Dinesh Sharma supported Dubey’s views, saying no one could challenge the President, calling the President “supreme.”

As the issue sparked widespread criticism from opposition parties like Congress, AIMIM, JMM, and DMK, BJP President JP Nadda distanced the party from Dubey’s remarks. He made it clear that the comments made by Dubey and Sharma were their personal opinions, not the party’s official stance. Nadda emphasized that the BJP respects the judiciary and instructed everyone to avoid making such statements in the future.
