A man has been arrested in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly cutting off his wife’s braid at a beauty parlour. The woman’s father, Radhakrishna, filed a complaint accusing the husband, Rampratap, of dowry harassment.

The complaint says that the woman had been married to Rampratap for about a year and had faced constant demands for dowry, including items like a refrigerator and a cooler. Because of this ongoing harassment, the woman had returned to her parents’ home a week before the incident.

The situation got worse when Rampratap, along with three others, went to a local beauty parlour where his wife was getting her eyebrows done. He reportedly cut off her braid in front of others.

While the woman’s father believes this was related to dowry harassment, some local people say Rampratap was upset because his wife had gone to the parlour. The police have filed a case and are now investigating the matter.
