Microsoft Outlook, the popular email and calendar service, is currently facing a global outage. Many users are unable to access their emails on the web, mobile, and desktop platforms.

The problem started around 10:20 PM UTC on July 9 (3:50 AM IST on July 10), and even after more than 11 hours, the issue is not fully resolved.

What’s Happening?

According to the outage tracking site DownDetector:

  • 62% of users can’t log in to their accounts.
  • 33% are having server connection problems.
  • 5% can’t send emails.

The outage is mainly affecting users in Washington, New York, and Dallas.

Many users are seeing error messages like “Something went wrong” or “Invalid licenses” when trying to log in.

What Caused the Issue?

Microsoft shared that the problem is likely due to an issue with its mailbox system, possibly related to a failed authentication process. This is what’s causing the login and access problems.

What Has Microsoft Said?

Microsoft has confirmed the outage through its official Microsoft 365 Status account. They are actively working on fixing the issue and said the fix is being deployed faster than expected. They also mentioned that the service will gradually return to normal as the fix continues to roll out.

However, Microsoft has not yet shared the exact cause of the outage and is still investigating.
