
Tom Cruise’s latest film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has made a powerful start at the Indian box office, earning ₹17.5 crore on its first day. This makes it the biggest opening for any Hollywood movie in India in 2025, beating all Marvel releases this year.

Cruise released the movie in India six days before the rest of the world, showing his special connection with Indian fans—and the audience responded with overwhelming support. The film saw an English occupancy rate of 75.61%, a strong performance compared to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which opened at ₹12 crore in 2023.

It outperformed Marvel films like Captain America: Brave New World (₹4.2 crore) and Thunderbolts (₹3.8 crore), as well as Bollywood films like Kesari 2 (₹7.5 crore) and Jaat (₹9.5 crore). Even the highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year, The Minecraft Movie, opened at only ₹2 crore in India, while Disney’s Snow White earned just ₹65 lakh.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who has helmed the franchise since Rogue Nation, The Final Reckoning sees Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt. Originally titled Dead Reckoning – Part Two, the eighth film was renamed after the release of Part One. The movie features a star-studded cast including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, Nick Offerman, and others. It released in India on May 17 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
