Chennai Super Kings’ legendary player and former captain, MS Dhoni, is looking strong as he prepares for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. On Tuesday, March 18, during a practice session at the MS Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Dhoni showed that even at 43, he still has the power to take on the best bowlers.

During a practice match, Dhoni played his famous helicopter shot to hit a six off Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana’s yorker. The shot went flying over the bowler’s head and past the boundary, proving that Dhoni’s batting skills are still top-notch.

Dhoni’s Future in IPL

MS Dhoni was retained by CSK as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore. This smart move helped CSK save money and build a balanced team. However, there are rumors that Dhoni might retire from the IPL after this season.

Recently, Dhoni was seen wearing a T-shirt with “One last time” written in Morse code, hinting that this could be his final IPL season. He has previously said that his motivation to keep playing at 43 is the love for the sport. Since retiring from international cricket, Dhoni has focused on IPL and trains for six to eight months each year to stay fit. He also ensures he joins CSK’s pre-season training camps earlier than others.

At a promotional event in Chennai, Dhoni shared, “Earlier, my biggest motivation was to help India win. Now, after international retirement, it’s all about my love for the game.”

Even though Dhoni will turn 44 in July 2025, he has maintained his fitness and is ready for another competitive IPL season.
