The Mumbai-Hyderabad Bullet Train project is set to transform travel in southern and western India. This high-speed rail corridor will stretch over 767 kilometers, connecting major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad through 11 planned stations. It promises to make long-distance travel faster and more convenient across Maharashtra and Telangana.
The project was announced by the Indian government in 2019 as part of six high-speed rail corridors. Although construction hasn’t started yet, groundwork for the project began in October 2020. Once completed, the Mumbai-Hyderabad Bullet Train will become part of India’s expanding network of modern, safe, and fast rail systems.

The bullet train will have a top speed of 350 km/h and a regular speed of 320 km/h, with an average speed of 250 km/h. The trains will run on special tracks with advanced digital signaling and safety systems, including a seismic braking system. Each train will be able to carry about 750 passengers.
The train will stop at the following stations:
- Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai
- Navi Mumbai (near the new international airport)
- Lonavala
- Pune
- Kurkumb/Daund
- Akluj
- Pandharpur
- Solapur
- Kalaburagi (Gulbarga)
- Zaheerabad
- Hyderabad
While the exact cost is still being determined, this project is expected to reduce travel time significantly, boost the local economy, and encourage sustainable development along the route.
