
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai for July 26, warning of heavy rainfall in the city. This comes a day after heavy rains caused waterlogging and disrupted daily life in several areas.

Alerts Across Maharashtra
The IMD has also issued weather alerts for many districts in Maharashtra:
- Red alert (very heavy rainfall) has been issued for:
- Palghar
- Ghat areas of Pune
- Chandrapur and Gondia
- Orange alert (heavy rainfall) has been issued for:
- Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg
- Jalgaon, Nanded, Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha
- Ghat areas of Nashik, Satara
- Gadchiroli, Bhandara
IMD’s Statement
IMD scientist Sushma Nair said, “Red alert for Palghar and orange alert for Mumbai and nearby coastal districts like Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg have been issued. A red alert is also in place for Ghat areas of Pune.”
According to the IMD weather bulletin, extremely heavy rainfall is likely in some parts of Konkan and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 26.

The Colaba Weather Department in Mumbai said the sky will remain mostly cloudy, with heavy to very heavy rain expected in the city and suburbs. Winds may reach up to 40-50 kmph.
- Maximum temperature: Around 29°C
- Minimum temperature: Around 24°C
Due to the heavy rain on Friday, Andheri Subway was temporarily closed after waterlogging. According to a report by the BMC, the rainfall averages recorded were:
- Island City: 29.40 mm
- Eastern Suburbs: 29.44 mm
- Western Suburbs: 18.88 mm
Palghar Declares School Holiday
Due to the red alert, Palghar District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar has declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres on July 26 to ensure safety.
