During Day 4 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, former England captain and Sky Sports commentator Nasser Hussain had some fun at Dinesh Karthik’s expense. The light moment happened when Karthik forgot to wear his microphone during a tea-time chat with fellow presenter Ian Ward.
Hussain joked on-air, saying,

“Dinesh Karthik, it’s been a long day and you’re new to this commentary gig. But I’d say your microphone is equally important.”
He even poked fun at fellow commentator Michael Atherton, adding,
“Don’t worry, it happens to the best. Atherton once tried to commentate using a coffee cup.”

Dinesh Karthik, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2024, has now moved into commentary and coaching, and is currently the batting coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025.
Match Update:
On the field, India fought back strongly after a poor start to their second innings. England’s Chris Woakes struck twice in the first over, removing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan, leaving India at 0/2.
But Shubman Gill (78) and KL Rahul (87)** played brilliantly, adding an unbeaten 174-run partnership for the third wicket. At stumps, India were 174/2, still 137 runs behind England.
Earlier, England posted a huge total of 669, thanks to Ben Stokes’ superb 141 runs—his 14th Test century. For India, Ravindra Jadeja was the best bowler, taking four wickets.
