India Launches ‘Operation Brahma,’ Delivers 15 Tonnes of Relief to Myanmar After Devastating Earthquake

India launches 'operation brahma', sends 15 tonnes of aid to myanmar after deadly earthquake

India has started ‘Operation Brahma’ to help Myanmar after a powerful earthquake killed over 1,000 people and injured more than 2,000 on Friday.

On Saturday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) sent a C-130 J aircraft carrying 15 tonnes of relief supplies to Myanmar’s city Yangon. The supplies include tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators, and medicines.

India’s Immediate Response

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared images of the aid on social media platform X, saying,
“Operation Brahma – India is acting as the first responder to help Myanmar. Our first batch of 15 tonnes of relief material has landed in Yangon.”

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also confirmed that India is sending more help. He stated that along with the relief materials, India has also sent a search and rescue team and a medical team to assist the affected people.

PM Modi’s Support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concern about the disaster and assured that India is ready to provide full support. He posted on X,
“We are deeply concerned about the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for everyone’s safety. India is ready to help in every possible way.”

Indian Embassy’s Assistance

The Indian Embassy in Myanmar is working closely with Myanmar’s government to ensure quick delivery of aid. The embassy also reminded Indian nationals in Myanmar that they can call +95-95419602 for emergency help.

The Earthquake Disaster

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, causing major destruction. The country’s military government has requested international help, and India has responded immediately. The death toll has now reached 1,002, with more than 2,000 injured.

India has promised to send more aid as needed to support Myanmar in this difficult time.
