
A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Wednesday.
The encounter began in the Kuchal area of Chhatroo after the J&K Police, along with the Army and CRPF, received information about the presence of terrorists and launched a search operation.

According to the Army’s post on X (formerly Twitter), the operation—called Operation Chhatru—was based on specific intelligence. Security forces began a joint search in Kanzal Mandu, Kishtwar, and soon made contact with the terrorists.
As the search team moved in, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a gun battle.
Officials said that additional forces have been sent to the area to tighten the security cordon and ensure the terrorists are neutralized. The operation is still ongoing.
