Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that Pakistan and India should sit together like good neighbors and solve their problems, including the issue of Kashmir.
He spoke at a special event called ‘Youm-e-Tashakur’ (Day of Thanks) to honor the military. He reminded everyone that Pakistan and India have fought three wars but gained nothing from them.

Shehbaz said, “The lesson is that we should talk peacefully and solve all our problems, including Jammu and Kashmir. Without solving these issues, there can be no peace in this region.”

India has said it will only talk to Pakistan about Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and terrorism.
The Prime Minister said, “If there is peace, we can also work together to fight terrorism.”
Earlier this year, India carried out precise military strikes in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. After that, Pakistan tried to attack Indian military bases, and India responded strongly. After four days of fighting, both countries agreed to stop the fighting on May 10.
Shehbaz thanked friendly countries for helping arrange the ceasefire and especially thanked former US President Donald Trump for his role.
On ‘Youm-e-Tashakur,’ there were gun salutes, special prayers, and rallies across Pakistan to show support for the armed forces. The Prime Minister also raised the national flag at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.
He said, “Pakistan is a peaceful country, but it will defend itself strongly if needed.” He praised the Pakistani armed forces for their strong response and said they made the country proud.
Shehbaz also visited the family of Squadron Leader Usman Yousaf, who died in the recent fighting, and expressed his condolences. He visited the hospital to check on soldiers and civilians injured in the attacks.

He said, “The way our armed forces and people stood together in this conflict is something very special.”
This was the second time Pakistan observed ‘Youm-e-Tashakur’ since the ceasefire. The first time was just a few days ago when rallies were held to honor the military’s efforts.
President Asif Ali Zardari also said, “Pakistan will never give up its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and important national interests.
