
Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 5 wickets to reach the IPL 2025 final. Star batter and captain Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant knock, scoring 87 runs and staying unbeaten till the end. The match took place in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1.

After the win, team owner Preity Zinta got emotional and joined the celebrations. She was first seen cheering in the stands with PBKS fans. Later, she came onto the field, hugged Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting, and congratulated other players, including Nehal Wadhera, who made an important 48-run contribution.

How the Match Went
The match started late due to rain, and PBKS chose to bowl first. MI had a solid start with Jonny Bairstow and Tilak Verma, while Suryakumar Yadav added quick runs with a 44-run innings. Naman Dhir smashed some big shots towards the end, helping MI post a strong total of 203 runs in 20 overs.
In the chase, PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh early. But Josh Inglis came in and hit Jasprit Bumrah for 20 runs in one over. Inglis and Priyansh got out quickly, but then Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera built a strong partnership.
In the end, it was Shreyas who hit the winning runs, guiding PBKS to the final.

PBKS will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final on June 3.
