Social Media Won’t Secure Your Future — AI Will, Perplexity CEO in Stern Warning for Youth

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, has a clear message for young people:
Stop scrolling on Instagram and start learning how to use artificial intelligence (AI).

In a recent interview, Srinivas said that people who understand and use AI tools will have a better chance of getting good jobs in the future. He warned that those who ignore AI may struggle to find work.

“People who know how to use AI will be more employable than those who don’t. That’s a fact,” he said.

AI Is Growing Fast – Can We Keep Up?

Srinivas admitted that it’s not easy to keep up with how fast AI is changing. He pointed out that AI is improving every 3 to 6 months, which makes it hard for people to adapt quickly.

“Humans are not used to changing so fast,” he explained.

Because of this, some workers may lose their jobs if they don’t learn to use AI tools.

New Jobs Will Come from Entrepreneurs

As AI reduces the need for employees in many companies, Srinivas believes that entrepreneurs (business starters) will play a big role in creating new jobs.

“Either people who lose their jobs will start new companies using AI, or they will learn AI and join startups,” he said.

His thoughts match what many in the tech world are saying. Some, like Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, think AI could take away half of all entry-level office jobs in the next five years. AI expert Geoffrey Hinton also warned that many jobs involving routine thinking tasks might disappear.

However, others like Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang are more hopeful. They believe AI will change how we work, not replace us completely.
