
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro on August 10, as announced by BJP leader and Bengaluru South MP, Tejasvi Surya.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Surya thanked the Prime Minister for supporting the city’s infrastructure development and added that public transport is the only long-term solution to Bengaluru’s growing traffic problems.

What Is the Yellow Line Metro?
The Yellow Line is a major metro line in Bengaluru that will run from RV Road to Bommasandra, covering 19.15 km with 16 stations. The entire project cost is around ₹5,056.99 crore.
The line is expected to be a big help for almost 8 lakh commuters, especially those traveling through high-traffic areas like Silk Board Junction and Hosur Road.
- Faster Commute: It will cut travel time by up to 60% between South Bengaluru and Electronic City, one of the biggest IT hubs in India.
- Better Connectivity: The Yellow Line provides direct metro access to major tech companies like Infosys (via Konappana Agrahara station) and Biocon (via Hebbagodi station).
- Traffic Solution: It will help reduce the heavy traffic in Bengaluru’s tech corridor.
Along with this inauguration, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the Bangalore Metro, which will span 44.65 km and cost ₹15,611 crore.
