Punjab Police have busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module in Batala, arresting six men allegedly working under the guidance of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.
This major breakthrough comes just days after a failed grenade attack outside a liquor shop in Batala, about 40 km from Amritsar. The grenade was found with its pin removed but failed to detonate—a stroke of luck for civilians and a red alert for security forces.

For the average person in Punjab, this is more than just a police bulletin. It’s a reminder that terror plots are not distant news items—they’re being hatched in the next town. Thankfully, this time, alert policing stopped a tragedy before it happened.
Six Arrested, All Trained and Tied to ISI
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the arrested individuals are Jatin Kumar alias Rohan, Barinder Singh alias Sajan, Rahul Masih, Abraham alias Rohit, Sohit, and Sunil Kumar.
These men were reportedly receiving direct instructions from Portugal-based handler Maninder Billa and BKI’s new operational head Mannu Agwan, who stepped in after the arrest of Happy Passian in the USA.
During a recovery operation, Jatin Kumar opened fire on the police and was injured in retaliatory fire. He is currently admitted to Civil Hospital, Batala.

Last Saturday, panic spread in Batala when a grenade was found lying outside a liquor shop. The device was armed—the pin had been pulled—but it failed to explode. A few hours later, a social media post by alleged gangsters tried to claim credit. The police weren’t buying it.
Behind the social media smoke and mirrors, investigators found real intent and foreign support—exactly the pattern India has warned the world about.
Weapons Recovered, FIR Registered
A .30 bore pistol was recovered from the arrested men. An FIR has been lodged at the Civil Lines Police Station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to the DGP, the suspects had planned more attacks, which are now being investigated.
This bust comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a broader Indian offensive targeting terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). While Pakistan continues to deny involvement, the growing list of arrests and confessions paints a different picture.
Let’s call it what it is: Pakistani-sponsored terrorism in Indian Punjab isn’t a relic of the past—it’s still trying to sneak in, disguised as gang wars or one-off stunts. The absurdity? It took a failed grenade to expose an international terror web.
Investigations are ongoing. Police are probing links between the Batala group and other sleeper cells across Punjab. With the arrest of their local operatives, the bigger game now moves to intelligence-sharing, cybertracking, and international coordination.
This isn’t just a win for Punjab Police. It’s a warning shot to terror outfits and their sponsors: India is watching, and India isn’t waiting.
