Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India by the end of 2025, according to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He confirmed on Thursday that the visit dates are almost finalized.

“We are very happy and excited to hear about President Putin’s upcoming visit to India,” Doval said. He also added that India and Russia share a strong and long-standing relationship, and their strategic partnership has been very valuable. He mentioned that such high-level meetings have helped strengthen ties between the two countries.
This news comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has taken a tough stance against India for continuing to buy oil from Russia. Trump has imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods and warned that more countries, including China, could face similar actions.
However, Russia has defended India’s right to trade freely. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that every country has the right to choose its trading partners, and that forcing countries to stop trading with Russia is not acceptable.
Trump and Putin are also expected to meet next week, during a crucial time when Trump is increasing pressure on Russia through tariffs, while also pushing for an end to the war in Ukraine.
