Radhika Yadav, a 21-year-old state-level tennis player, was shot dead by her father in Gurugram. Now, police say it was not a crime of sudden anger. It was planned.
The shocking incident happened around 10:30 am on Thursday. Radhika was cooking breakfast. Her father, Deepak Yadav, was alone with her at the time. He sent his son out to buy groceries. Then he fired four bullets at her. She died on the spot.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Deepak had been upset about Radhika’s tennis academy. He told her to shut it down. He said people mocked him for living off her success. Police believe this pressure pushed him to plan the murder.
But the story has more layers.
Radhika’s mother, Manju Yadav, said Deepak had expressed his anger many times. She said, “Deepak had openly expressed a desire to harm their daughter after villagers allegedly mocked him for living off Radhika’s success.”
Manju also described him as a man who was obsessive and quick to anger. She said he even scolded her for talking to a male relative. She was at home when the murder happened.
A longtime friend of Deepak, however, told News18 that the reason of being mocked doesn’t make sense. He said Deepak was financially stable and had enough property.
Still, tensions at home were growing. For the past three days, Radhika and Deepak were arguing. The main fight was about the academy. He wanted it shut. She refused.
There’s another twist.
A neighbour from Deepak’s native village, Wazirabad, said that he didn’t like Radhika’s partner. She wanted to marry someone outside their caste. Her conservative father didn’t accept this. Police have said this caste angle is not confirmed yet.
Right now, only the tennis academy issue is the known motive.
Deepak Yadav was taken to court on Friday. The court sent him to one-day police custody. The judge called it a serious matter and said more investigation is needed.
This murder has shocked the entire nation. A young girl, full of promise, was taken away by her own father. The pain of this crime is hard to forget.
