To help manage the heavy rush of passengers during the Diwali and Chhath festival season, Indian Railways has launched a new experimental scheme called the “Round Trip Package”.

Under this scheme, passengers booking both onward and return tickets together will get a 20% discount on the base fare of the return journey.

Booking Details:

  • Bookings start: August 14, 2025
  • Onward journey period: October 13 – October 26, 2025
  • Return journey period: November 17 – December 1, 2025
  • Book using the Connecting Journey feature.

Special Rules for the Scheme:

  1. The same passengers must travel in both directions with the same details.
  2. Both tickets must be confirmed (no waitlist allowed).
  3. The same class and origin–destination pair must be chosen for both trips.
  4. The 20% rebate is only on base fare, not on other charges like reservation fees.
  5. Tickets must be booked either online (IRCTC) or at the station counter – but both legs through the same method.
  6. The offer is valid for all train classes, including special trains, but not Flexi Fare trains.
  7. No refunds or changes are allowed after booking.
  8. Other concessions (coupons, passes, vouchers, PTOs, etc.) cannot be used for the return journey.
