Two separate road accidents in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and Jalore districts late Tuesday night claimed the lives of seven people and left 17 others injured.

Accident in Jaisalmer:

In the first accident near Basanpeer village in Jaisalmer, a newly-wed couple and their family were returning home after a wedding ceremony in Pokaran. Around midnight, their car was hit by an unknown vehicle and was crushed from the front.

Sadly, the groom Leelaram (35), his sister Mooli Devi (35), and a 9-month-old baby Hitesh lost their lives. The bride Basanti (31) and three others — Pukhraj (36), Ashok Kumar (27) and his wife Hemlata (24) — were seriously injured and shifted to a hospital in Jodhpur for treatment.

The driver of the unidentified vehicle fled the spot. Police are investigating the accident and trying to trace the vehicle responsible.

Family members of the victims gathered outside Jawahir Hospital, seeking justice and government support.

Accident in Jalore:

In the second accident near Charli village under the Ahore police station area in Jalore, a jeep and an SUV collided after a stray bull suddenly came onto the road.

The crash was severe, and four people died — Pooran Singh (46), Jagdish Singh (38), Rakhma Devi Meghwal (38) died at the spot, while Sharda Meghwal died later at the hospital. The jeep was badly damaged, and some passengers got trapped inside.

Both vehicles were moving in opposite directions — one going towards Ahore and the other towards Takhatgarh. A total of 19 people were in the vehicles, out of which 13 were injured, including women and children. They are being treated in hospitals at Sumerpur and Ahore.
