Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is creating huge excitement even before its release. In just 5 hours of advance booking in Kerala, the film has earned over ₹3 crore — a rare achievement in Indian cinema.
The ticket sales started with a bang. Within the first hour, more than 50,000 tickets were sold. By 11 AM, the film had already crossed ₹1 crore in advance sales. Two hours later, the figure jumped to ₹2.35 crore, and soon after, it reached ₹3 crore. These numbers were shared by Forum Reelz and have impressed the entire film industry.
Coolie is also doing extremely well overseas. In North America, the film has already collected over ₹12 crore from premiere show bookings.
What’s more interesting is that bookings in big markets like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and North India haven’t even opened yet. If Kerala alone can bring in such huge numbers, experts believe the film could break multiple box office records when nationwide sales begin.
The movie features a powerful cast — apart from Rajinikanth, it stars Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan. Fans are excited because the film combines Rajini’s superstar legacy with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s popular action style.

Coolie will release alongside another big film, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. But looking at Kerala’s response, it seems Rajinikanth’s film is all set to dominate the box office and possibly create history.
