Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon recently boarded an Air India flight and shared several photos from inside the aircraft. She described the mood onboard as “solemn” (serious and quiet), as the country still mourns the tragic Air India plane crash that happened on June 12.
In her emotional post, Raveena praised the crew members for trying their best to stay strong despite their sadness. She said they greeted passengers with smiles, even though their eyes reflected pain. The passengers and crew shared an unspoken bond of sorrow, united in silent condolences and strength.

Raveena wrote,
“New Beginnings … to rise and fly again against all odds … to pick up and start all over, new resolve towards greater strength. The atmosphere solemn and the crew’s welcoming smiles, tinted with sadness. The silent passengers and crew bonding with unspoken condolences and subtle confidence. Condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones. A wound that will never heal. Godspeed always @airindia. Fearless and a will to overcome and be strong again. Jai Hind.”
What Happened in the Air India Crash?
On June 12, an Air India flight AI-171, flying from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff. The flight had 242 people on board, including:
- 169 Indian nationals
- 53 British nationals
- 7 Portuguese citizens
- 1 Canadian citizen
Thick smoke was seen in the Dharpur area of Ahmedabad after the crash.
Tragically, only one person survived – a man named Viswashkumar Ramesh, who was seated in seat 11A. He managed to escape the aircraft just in time and survived.
Air India confirmed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025.”
Authorities have recovered both black boxes from the crash site. These devices are being analyzed to understand what went wrong. Early reports say the pilot had sent a “mayday” distress signal to Air Traffic Control shortly before the crash.
