Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed at least 26 people on Tuesday. Most of the victims were tourists, including families, children, and newlyweds.
Sunak shared his grief on social media platform X, saying, “The barbaric attack in Pahalgam has taken innocent lives. Our hearts break for them. The UK stands with India in sorrow and solidarity. Terror will never win.”

The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. The gunmen opened fire near a popular tourist area, making it the deadliest attack in the region since the Pulwama bombing in 2019.

World leaders have condemned the attack. Former US President Donald Trump also called the incident “deeply disturbing” and said the US supports India in its fight against terrorism.
In response, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and held a high-level security meeting in Delhi. As a part of India’s response, the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan has been suspended.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the attack will be answered strongly. He promised that the government will go after both the attackers and those who helped plan it.
