The Indian Premier League (IPL) action is heading to Delhi as the Delhi Capitals (DC) prepare to face Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Sunday. The excitement around the stadium is building, with fans cheering and drums beating as the home team returns to its traditional ground.

Delhi Capitals in Strong Form

Delhi Capitals are looking confident this season, winning four matches in a row. Their all-round performance has made them strong contenders, and they currently sit at the top of the IPL points table. With their first match at home this season, fans are hopeful for another strong showing.

The team has a new look and a fresh approach under the leadership of Axar Patel. His captaincy, along with key players like Mitchell Starc in the bowling line-up and the spin duo of Axar and Kuldeep Yadav, has helped Delhi dominate the middle overs.

Ashutosh Sharma impressed with his powerful hitting late in the innings, and KL Rahul has also found form in the middle order. However, the only concern for DC is their slow scoring in the powerplay. Openers like Faf du Plessis, Abhishek Porel, and Jake Fraser-McGurk have struggled to score big, which could be risky on a batting-friendly pitch like Kotla. Last year, the ground saw over 2,000 runs scored in just five matches, making it the highest scoring venue in the tournament.

Despite this, the Delhi team is staying calm and focused. “Everyone knows this ground well, and our preparation is strong,” said Ashutosh Sharma ahead of the match.

Rohit Sharma’s Poor Form a Big Concern

On the other side, Mumbai Indians are struggling and currently sit at eighth in the IPL standings. Their captain Rohit Sharma, now playing only as a batsman, is going through a tough time. His recent scores — 0, 8, 13, and 17 — show that he is far from his best form. In fact, Rohit has scored over 400 runs in only one of the last four IPL seasons.

His poor form is putting pressure on the rest of the batting order, including Ryan Rickelton, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, and Suryakumar Yadav. Interestingly, Mumbai’s best batting performance this season came in a game where Rohit didn’t play due to a knee injury. Though he was seen with a bandage on his knee during practice, he is expected to open the innings against Delhi.

Rohit Sharma’s return to form is crucial for Mumbai Indians. The team has lost some matches by very narrow margins, so a strong start from the top order could make a big difference. With Kotla’s batting-friendly conditions, this could be the perfect chance for Rohit to bounce back.

In summary, the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will not only be a battle between two big IPL teams but also a test to see if Rohit Sharma’s poor form can be turned around. With Delhi in great shape and Mumbai under pressure, all eyes will be on the star opener to see if he can deliver when it matters most.
