Imagine earning just Rs 500 a day—then getting a tax notice for Rs 7.8 crore!
A Humble Vendor’s Nightmare
Raees Ahmed, a 35-year-old juice vendor in Aligarh, lives a simple life. Every day, he sets up his small cart near the civil court, selling fresh juice and earning a modest Rs 500-600. But his world turned upside down when he received an income tax notice demanding a staggering Rs 7.8 crore!
The Shocking Delivery
Last Saturday, a courier handed Ahmed a document from the Income Tax department. With the help of a nearby lawyer, he discovered the unbelievable demand. “The shock made my blood pressure spike. I couldn’t eat or sleep,” he said.

PAN Misuse Suspected
When Ahmed visited the tax office, officials told him his PAN was linked to massive business transactions—something he knew nothing about. Suspecting identity theft, he filed a police complaint. The local tax officer advised him to take legal action if his PAN was misused.
With the deadline to respond set for March 28, Ahmed is scrambling for answers. An investigation is underway, but the stress has taken a toll on his health.
