Runway has done it again. The company just dropped Act-Two, its latest AI motion capture model, and it’s a big deal. This new version takes a simple video of a person and turns it into a fully animated character — face, hands, body, and even background included.
That’s not all. You only need one photo of the character. From there, Runway’s Act-Two maps the movement from the original video onto the character — all while keeping the same art style and scene details. It’s fast, accurate, and smooth.
This is a huge step up from Act-One, which was launched in October 2024. According to Runway, Act-Two is better in every way. Movements look more real. Faces and hands are more detailed. Backgrounds stay clean. And the whole thing runs more consistently.
Behind the scenes, Runway is also building strong ties with Hollywood. Big names like Lionsgate and AMC Networks are already partnering with them. This shows where the film industry is heading — straight into AI workflows.
Introducing Act-Two, our next-generation motion capture model with major improvements in generation quality and support for head, face, body and hand tracking. Act-Two only requires a driving performance video and reference character.

How It Works
You record a video of someone moving — even just on your phone. Then you give Runway a reference photo of the character. Act-Two will do the rest. It adds the movements, expressions, and style to your animation.
It works for hands, face, head, and upper body. Even the background can stay in place. No extra editing needed.
Why Is This Important?
Because AI in Hollywood is a hot topic. Writers and actors are worried about losing their jobs. Unions are pushing back. But let’s be honest — the industry is still using AI tools every day. Just quietly.
Runway is leading that change. They’re not waiting for approval. They’re building tech that makes production faster, cheaper, and creative in new ways. And it’s working.
Even if actors protest, studios are watching. Tools like Runway’s Act-Two will shape the future of filmmaking. Whether we like it or not.
Think about it. Low-budget filmmakers, YouTubers, animators — they can now animate characters using just a phone video and one image. That’s massive.
You don’t need a big team. No green screen. No motion capture suits. Just a phone, a face, and Runway.
For creators in India, this is a power move. AI isn’t just for Hollywood anymore. It’s for anyone with a story to tell.
