Russia’s Largest Attack Since The War Began: ‘Almost All’ of Ukraine Hit in 400-Drone, 40-Missile Barrage

In one of the biggest assaults since the war began, Russia launched over 400 drones and 40 missiles across Ukraine, killing at least six people and injuring 80 others. The attack hit nearly every corner of the country, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The worst-hit areas included Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Lutsk. Emergency services said three firefighters died in Kyiv, two civilians in Lutsk, and one person in Chernihiv. Some victims may still be under the debris.

What This Means for Ordinary Ukrainians

For the people of Ukraine, this wasn’t just another night of war—it was a test of endurance. Cities across the country were forced to scramble for shelter as air raid sirens screamed through the night. “It didn’t break us at all,” said Olha, a Kyiv resident. “Our morale is as high as ever. We believe in our army.”

And that belief isn’t just talk—Ukraine struck back fast. Using FPV drones, it hit five Russian airbases, reportedly damaging or destroying over 40 aircraft in regions like Murmansk and Ryazan.

So Why Now?

Russia claimed the attack was retaliation for Ukraine’s drone strikes. But with this level of force, many are asking: was it revenge—or a sign of escalation?

Putin, fresh off a phone call with the US President, hinted at further retaliation. But so far, the message from Ukraine is clear: “We’re not backing down.”

And honestly, it’s hard not to notice the irony. After three years of bombings, Russia now cries foul when drones hit its airbases. That’s like the bully finally getting punched back—and calling it unfair.

A New Chapter or Just a Replay?

This massive strike feels both familiar and different. Familiar because Ukraine has lived through countless nights of air raids. Different because of its scale and timing, just days after Ukraine’s counter-drones made headlines.

Still, to many Ukrainians, it’s just another chapter in a long, painful fight. A brutal reminder that while Russia may fire missiles, it still hasn’t broken Ukraine’s will.
