Former England cricketer Allan Lamb has revealed his favourite Indian batsman of all time—and it’s none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
Lamb, who is now 71 years old and played for England in three World Cups and 79 Test matches, said, “Sachin easily.”

He even shared a funny memory from when Tendulkar was just 18 years old. Lamb said, “I dropped him at slip, and he went on to score 100. So I always tell him—it was me who made your name!”
When asked to compare Tendulkar with Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli, Lamb said Sachin was the best Indian player he had ever faced.
He praised Kohli, saying, “Kohli is a brilliant player. He can hit all kinds of shots and scores quickly.” But he still picked Tendulkar as the best, even ahead of Gavaskar.
However, Lamb did wish he could have seen Sachin play against the strong West Indies team, the same team Gavaskar scored runs against.

Despite choosing Tendulkar as the best batter, Lamb said his favourite Indian cricketer ever is Kapil Dev, who was also his teammate at Northamptonshire.
He recalled Kapil saying, “I haven’t come to improve my bowling—I’ve come to improve my batting!” Lamb said he always enjoyed that about Kapil’s attitude.
