Mohammed Shariful Islam, the man accused of attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan with a knife earlier this year, has applied for bail. In his application, he said the FIR (police complaint) against him is fake and based on a made-up story.
What the Accused Says
According to the news agency, 30-year-old Shariful Islam is currently in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai. His lawyer, Vipul Dushing, filed the bail petition, claiming that Islam is innocent and has no previous criminal record. He also said Islam has cooperated with the police during the investigation.

In the petition, Islam’s team said, “The FIR is just a fictional story told by the complainant.”

Police Investigation Almost Over
The bail petition also mentioned that the police investigation is almost complete, and only the charge sheet needs to be filed. The police have already collected important evidence, like CCTV footage and call records.
Islam’s lawyer said that since all evidence is now with the police, he won’t be able to tamper with it or influence any witnesses if he gets bail.
The Night of the Attack
The attack happened in January around 2:15 AM at Saif Ali Khan’s home in Bandra, Mumbai. The intruder reportedly broke into the house and entered the room of Saif’s younger son, Jeh, where a house help was present.
Saif rushed in to help and tried to stop the attacker using his bare hands. During the fight, Saif was stabbed six times, and two of the wounds were very close to his spine, making the situation extremely serious.
