Samsung is planning to invest in Perplexity AI, a smart digital assistant and search engine that competes with ChatGPT, Claude, and Google’s Gemini. If the deal goes through, Samsung might officially announce it later this year.
Samsung has already been using AI in its smartphones. After introducing Gemini AI integration in One UI 7.0, the company is now exploring other AI options. The Galaxy S26, expected to launch early next year, could be the first phone to come with Perplexity AI built in.

What Is Perplexity AI?
Perplexity is a powerful AI assistant that helps answer questions and search the web more efficiently. It’s similar to ChatGPT and could offer users a new way to interact with their phones.
Why this Samsung planning?
Samsung might:
- Invest in Perplexity AI, possibly becoming one of its biggest backers.
- Preload Perplexity AI on future phones like the Galaxy S26.
- Integrate Perplexity into Bixby and Samsung Internet.
- Develop an AI-powered operating system and smart agents using Perplexity and other AIs.
This move would help Samsung reduce its dependence on Google’s Gemini and follow a strategy like Apple, which is working with both ChatGPT and Gemini for its own devices.
Deal Not Final Yet
The deal between Samsung and Perplexity is still under discussion. Nothing is confirmed yet. Perplexity is currently trying to raise $500 million in new funding and has already partnered with Motorola to offer its AI tools in some of their phones.
