A recent Mid-Day report lit up Bollywood timelines with claims that Vicky Kaushal might join YRF’s Spy Universe. The report said Kaushal was in talks after his praised action role in Chhaava. It also quoted a trade source suggesting he was “keen to be part of this ambitious franchise.”
For a second, fans thought we were getting a new spy with a beard and a strong moral compass.

But then came the fact-check.
No Plans, No Movie—Says Insider
According to Bollywood Hungama, a senior source close to the production has shut down the speculation:
“It is not true at all. Currently, YRF is fully focused on War 2. While there are long-term plans for the spy universe, no such film is being made right now.”
So, for now, it’s a no-go. No script. No casting. No spy gadgets for Kaushal.
And honestly? That’s not surprising.

The Real Focus: War 2 and Alpha
YRF’s Spy Universe, created by Aditya Chopra, already includes major hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. The next in line is War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, and is set for a global release on August 14, 2025.
After that, all attention turns to Alpha, the first female-led spy film in the franchise. Starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Anil Kapoor, Alpha is shaping up to be a big moment for the universe—and it’s where YRF is putting its full creative energy.
So Why the Vicky Kaushal Rumors?
Sometimes, buzz builds around popular actors simply because fans want it to happen. After Chhaava, people saw Kaushal as spy material—gritty, intense, physical. And let’s be real: he would look cool leaping off rooftops in a black leather jacket.
But wanting and planning aren’t the same thing.
The Bigger Picture
What this means for most fans: patience. The YRF Spy Universe is massive—but it’s also slow and strategic. Every film is a blockbuster-level project, not a content churn.
The studio isn’t just plugging in actors for headlines. They’re building a long-term brand. And if Vicky Kaushal does join someday, you can bet it’ll be with a proper bang—not a mid-week rumor leak.
