India’s middle-order batsman and Punjab Kings captain, Shreyas Iyer, shared an emotional moment recently. During the first practice session of the Champions Trophy 2025, Iyer broke down in tears after struggling to play well in the nets, despite coming off a strong series against England.
He admitted that he doesn’t cry easily, but this moment of weakness showed how much pressure he was feeling. However, Iyer quickly bounced back by adjusting to the playing conditions and became a key player for India in the tournament. In the finals of the Champions Trophy, he made an important 48 runs off 62 balls, helping India during the middle overs.

Meanwhile, in the IPL 2025, Iyer’s team Punjab Kings (PBKS) had a tough game as they lost by 50 runs to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Mullanpur. PBKS was chasing a big target of 206 runs, but things went wrong early. Both openers, including Iyer, were dismissed in the powerplay by Jofra Archer, who took 3 wickets for just 25 runs.
For Rajasthan, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant 67 off 45 balls, with good support from Sanju Samson (38) and Riyan Parag (43 not out). Their efforts helped RR reach 205/4. PBKS could only manage 155/9, showing weaknesses in their top order.
This loss has raised concerns for Punjab Kings, especially with their top-order batting and Iyer’s current form. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals got a much-needed win and a boost to their net run rate.
