Shubman Gill continues to shine as a batsman and leader. On Day 2 of the second Test match against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Gill scored his seventh Test century. This was also his second century in a row since becoming the captain of the Indian Test team.
His steady and calm batting helped India bounce back after a few quick wickets fell in the middle order. Teaming up with Ravindra Jadeja, the two players built an unbeaten sixth-wicket partnership, guiding India to a strong position in the match. The duo handled England’s bowlers with confidence and steadily increased India’s lead.

With this brilliant performance, Shubman Gill has made history. At just 25 years old, he is now the first Indian captain to score over 300 runs in an overseas Test series at such a young age.
He also joins a special group of Indian cricket legends — MAK Pataudi and Sachin Tendulkar — as one of only three Indian captains to score 150 or more runs in a Test match before turning 26.
Gill’s innings is also one of the highest scores by an Indian captain in England, second only to Mohammad Azharuddin’s 179 at Old Trafford in 1990.
