Gujarat Titans continued their great form in IPL 2025, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. This victory helped the Titans move to second place on the points table, giving them a strong chance to reach the playoffs. Shubman Gill led his team with a brilliant knock of 76 runs off 38 balls, including 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.
However, despite his great performance, Gill had moments of frustration during the match. He was run out after a joint effort from Harshal Patel and Heinrich Klaasen, and he was visibly upset with the decision. Before heading to the dugout, Gill had a heated conversation with the on-field umpire and even argued with another umpire sitting near the dugout. The argument seemed to be about Klaasen’s glove, which Gill believed knocked the bails off, not the ball.

After calming down, Gill accepted the decision, and Gujarat Titans went on to post a huge total of 224/6 while batting first.
Later, during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase, another incident got Gill upset. This time, it was when SRH’s Abhishek Sharma was batting. Sharma scored 74 runs off 41 balls, but when he was about to be dismissed, Gill got into another argument with the umpire. This happened after a DRS review in the 14th over, bowled by Prasidh Krishna. The bowler’s yorker hit Abhishek’s foot, and there was an appeal for LBW. Gill decided to review the decision, but it was given not out. The replay didn’t clearly show where the ball pitched, and only the impact and whether the ball would hit the stumps were visible, which upset Gill.
As the SRH batter got treatment from the physio, Gill continued his heated discussion with the umpire. Abhishek Sharma then stepped in to calm down the Gujarat captain.
Reflecting on his emotional outbursts, Gill said in the post-match presentation, “Sometimes when you give your 110 percent, emotions are involved, and there are bound to be moments like this.”
