The city was once again shaken on Friday night. Businessman-BJP Leader Gopal Khemka, a well-known businessman and BJP leader, was shot dead just outside his home in Patna. The murder happened six years after his son, Gunjan Khemka, was killed in a similar way.
This was not just another crime. This felt like a repeat.
A Chilling Repeat of 2018
Gopal Khemka, the owner of Magadh Hospital, one of Bihar’s oldest private hospitals, was returning home around 11 PM. As he stepped out of his car near the Twin Tower society next to Hotel Panache in the Gandhi Maidan area, someone fired at him. He died on the spot.
It was just like 2018. That year, his son Gunjan was gunned down in broad daylight outside his cotton factory in Vaishali. No arrests. No justice. And now, the father meets the same end.
What Happened That Night?
According to City SP Central Diksha, police received a call around 11 PM. A bullet and shell casing were found at the scene. The police have now formed an SIT (Special Investigation Team) led by SP Central to investigate.
But the questions remain louder than the sirens.
With Bihar elections coming soon, the murder has kicked off a storm. Purnea MP Pappu Yadav visited the crime scene, met the grieving family.
People are asking: how can a known leader like Gopal Khemka be killed in the heart of Patna without fear?
Khemka wasn’t just a businessman. He was someone who helped build Bihar’s private healthcare system. He had political reach. He lived in a secure, central location.
And six years ago, it was his son.
