Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has officially revealed exciting details about the upcoming Spider-Man movie titled ‘Brand New Day’ — and it’s going to be very different from the past ones.
Speaking during a roundtable event for the new Fantastic Four movie, Feige shared that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will now take a more grounded and serious turn, focusing on street-level crime rather than world-ending threats.

A More Realistic and Solo Spider-Man
Feige said, “At the end of No Way Home, Peter Parker is forgotten by everyone in his life. For the first time, he’s truly on his own. This gives us the chance to show him as a proper Spider-Man — saving the city, stopping street crimes, and working alone.”
Unlike the previous films that dealt with big, multiverse and cosmic-level events, Brand New Day will bring Peter Parker back to his roots. He’ll now focus on protecting regular people in New York City, like he used to in the early comics.
The Punisher Joins the Story
Feige also confirmed a major surprise: Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, will appear in the film. This darker Marvel character actually made his first comic book appearance in a Spider-Man story.
Feige teased, “When you go street-level, you think of other characters like The Punisher — and I’ve always loved that he started in a Spider-Man comic. I won’t say too much, but it’s going to be very exciting.”
Director Destin Daniel Cretton at the Helm
Feige praised the film’s director, Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He said Destin is doing a great job preparing the film and has eight or nine famous comic book covers pinned up in his office — which he’s planning to bring to life in the movie.
What Is ‘Brand New Day’ About?
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release on July 31, 2026. The title is based on a 2008 comic storyline where Peter Parker makes a deal with the demon Mephisto to erase his past, including his marriage and secret identity, starting life fresh. While Mephisto has already been introduced in the Marvel series Ironheart, it’s unclear if he will appear in the movie.
Although Feige didn’t share full plot details, fans are excited by the idea that the movie may stay very close to the original comics and offer strong character development — especially with the addition of the Punisher.
