Shares of SPML Infra rose 1.6% in early trade on Thursday after the company announced it has secured a major contract worth ₹385 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission for a comprehensive water supply project in Ajmer, Rajasthan.

The project covers the Water Production & Supply System for the Kekri-Sarwar Sector (Package-III) and includes a significant 10-year Operation & Maintenance (O&M) contract, ensuring long-term engagement and service continuity for the firm.

At the heart of the initiative lies the ambitious Kekri Water Supply Scheme, which seeks to upgrade water infrastructure in the Kekri-Sarwar region by drawing water from the Bisalpur Dam. The goal is to enhance water production and distribution capacity across the Ajmer district, aligning with the government’s mission of providing safe drinking water to every rural household.

A key component of the project involves the creation of a 160 MLD state-of-the-art Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Kekri. Designed to meet strict water quality norms, this plant will be supported by two Clear Water Reservoirs (CWRs)— one with 20 MLD capacity at the WTP campus and another 17.75 MLD at the Intermediate Pumping Station (IPS)in Nasirabad.

To ensure steady water flow, a 58.675 km Mild Steel (MS) pipeline will be installed, forming a Rising Main between the WTP and IPS. The network has been engineered for durability and efficient conveyance, helping to reduce leakages and service disruptions.

One of the highlights of this project is the use of advanced automation. High-capacity pumps, electrical and mechanical components, and a centralized SCADA system at the Kekri pump house will enable real-time monitoring and faster response times — boosting operational efficiency.

Additionally, the project includes demolishing outdated structures and building modern office spaces and J-2 residential quarters, aiming to improve both operational and admin infrastructure.

The 10-year O&M contract ensures SPML Infra’s continuous presence and accountability in maintaining system performance, efficiency, and reliability.

Commenting on the contract win, Subhash Sethi, Chairman of SPML Infra, said, “We’re honoured to be chosen for this significant project. It’s more than a business achievement — it’s our contribution towards the Government’s goal of providing clean drinking water to all households. This will improve water security for the people of Rajasthan and reflects our strength in executing technologically advanced water infrastructure projects.”

He added, “This project shows our integrated approach — combining tech, efficiency, and long-term planning. With the decade-long O&M component, we are fully committed to ensure everything works smoothly throughout.”

SPML Infra is a leading infrastructure development company in India, active in areas like water management, power transmission, wastewater treatment, solid waste, and civil infrastructure. With this project, it further solidify its position in India’s growing water sector.
