In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, a stray dog was seen carrying the body of a dead newborn baby near the toilet of a government hospital. This happened at the civil hospital in Mhow, about 25 km from Indore city, on Saturday, June 8, 2025.
A security guard noticed the dog and was able to take the baby’s body back after chasing the dog away. Sadly, the baby’s body had been partly eaten by the dogs.

Hospital and police officials have started investigating what happened. According to the hospital’s CCTV footage, the incident took place between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. A young girl was seen going into the toilet during that time.
The hospital staff found that a 17-year-old girl had come to the hospital the night before, complaining of stomach pain, and was admitted at 9 p.m. on Friday. It is believed she gave birth to the baby in the toilet and then left the hospital soon after with an unknown man.
Doctors said the baby was likely born prematurely and may have been stillborn (born dead). A post-mortem (medical examination) was done on Saturday, and the report is awaited. The baby’s body is now kept in the hospital mortuary.
The hospital has three entrances that were left open at night. Stray dogs enter through a gate near the store room. Because of this incident, hospital authorities have decided to keep all gates closed at night and put a security guard at the main gate to keep an eye on people and keep stray dogs away.
The police are investigating the case and have the CCTV footage and details given by the girl at the time of admission.
This incident happened just four days after stray dogs killed a 4-year-old boy in another district of Madhya Pradesh.
