During the fifth Test match between India and England in London, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill received a special surprise from cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar.
Gill had an amazing series and scored 754 runs, falling just 20 runs short of breaking Gavaskar’s old record of 774 runs in a Test series. He was dismissed for 11 runs off 9 balls in the last match by England’s Gus Atkinson.

After the third day’s play, Gavaskar met Gill and gave him two thoughtful gifts — a shirt with “SG” initials and a special cap signed by Gavaskar himself.
“This shirt was made for me, and now I’m giving it to you. I don’t know if it will fit, but it’s a small gift. And this cap — I give it only to very few people. I hope you break my record in the next series,” Gavaskar told Gill.
This sweet moment was shared in a video by Sony Sports on Instagram.
Smart Bowling by India
Later in the match, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj worked together on a smart plan. They made it look like a bouncer was coming, but instead bowled a yorker that took Zak Crawley’s wicket. Gavaskar praised this clever move.
“That last over was brilliant. I’m going to wear my lucky white jacket tomorrow — the same one I wore during the famous Gabba Test win in Australia,” said Gavaskar.
Match Update
England is chasing a big target of 374 runs to win. By the end of Day 3, they had scored 50 runs for the first wicket. Zak Crawley was out for 14 runs from 36 balls, while Ben Duckett stayed at the crease.
With two days left, India needs 8 wickets to win, and England needs 324 more runs. The match is still very competitive, and fans are excited to see who will come out on top.
