Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has just fired up the engines of innovation in Europe. The tech giant has launched three new centers dedicated to software-defined vehicles (SDVs)—and this move could seriously reshape the future of how cars are built.

Driving Innovation from Germany to Romania

Two of these hubs are located in Germany—in Munich and Villingen-Schwenningen. These cities are home to some of the biggest names in the automotive world, and now, they’ll host teams working on TCS’s cutting-edge software for self-driving features, infotainment, safety systems, and connected vehicles.

Meanwhile, over in Romania, TCS has opened a dedicated engineering center. This one will focus on designing the software platforms that power everything from the car’s brain to its voice assistants—basically building the digital core of tomorrow’s vehicles.

Why It Matters

Cars today are more than just engines and wheels. They’re computers on wheels. That’s why TCS is betting big on SDV tech, aiming to help global automakers move faster and smarter. With these new hubs, TCS brings its services closer to the heart of Europe’s automotive industry.

The goal? Support automakers through the full lifecycle of their smart vehicles—from initial idea to real-world rollout and updates post-launch.

A Growing Force of Global Talent

These new European hubs already have 100+ professionals on board. They’ll be working closely with 2,000+ SDV engineers across TCS’s global network. Together, they’ll build systems for digital cockpits, advanced driver assistance, and more.

According to Regu Ayyaswamy, TCS’s global head of IoT and Digital Engineering, this expansion puts TCS “at the forefront of automotive innovation.”

And Anupam Singhal, TCS’s manufacturing business head, calls the SDV shift a “defining moment” for the industry. “We’re building intelligent, connected, and sustainable vehicles,” he said. It’s all part of TCS’s larger push for Future-Ready Mobility—where software, AI, and design work hand-in-hand.

What’s Next for TCS?

This isn’t a one-off play. It’s part of TCS’s long-term strategy to boost its end-to-end automotive software capabilities—from chip-to-cloud. By setting up nearshore centers in Europe, TCS is getting even closer to its OEM partners and ensuring faster turnaround, better collaboration, and smarter innovation.

Final Word

From the streets of Munich to the tech labs of Romania, TCS is on a mission to reimagine cars as rolling computers. The race toward software-first mobility is on—and TCS just stepped on the gas.
