In the fast-changing tech world, a young Indian full-stack developer’s story has gone viral on Reddit’s r/developersIndia. His journey, which started with excitement and big dreams, ended in sudden disappointment.
The developer had 1.6 years of experience working at an Indian startup. He had learned a lot during this time—skills like Next.js, the MERN stack, DevOps, and even started exploring Machine Learning. Then came what seemed like a dream offer: a US-based startup offered him a contract job with a promised salary of ₹18 lakh per year—three times more than his current ₹6 lakh package.

Feeling excited, he resigned from his job, completed his notice period, and was ready to begin the new role. But just before his joining date, the US company sent him a short email saying they had to cancel his offer because of “internal restructuring” and “business changes.”
What made things worse was that he noticed a new name in the company’s Slack group, making him think the real reason might be that they found someone else. The company gave him 15 days’ pay as a small compensation—but it wasn’t much help.
Now, he is jobless and struggling to find a new opportunity. Despite applying everywhere, he hasn’t received any callbacks. It’s been a tough emotional ride—from getting his dream job to suddenly having no job at all.
He shared that while he enjoys working at startups and learning new things, the uncertainty is difficult to handle. For his next job, he hopes to find a stable role where he can grow and contribute for at least 2-3 years. He remains motivated to learn and work hard but is now looking for more stability.

He ended his post by asking for job leads, referrals, or advice—hoping that someone might help him find his next opportunity.
His story is a reminder of how unpredictable the tech world can be, especially with early-stage startups.
