What’s Happening in Balochistan?
There’s growing tension in Balochistan after a peaceful protest in Hub Chowki turned violent. The protest was organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) to raise their voice against the alleged killing of Zeeshan Zaheer, a BYC member from Panjgur. They believe he was killed by a state-backed group.
The protest saw a large number of women, children, and families of missing persons. But after it ended, police and security forces fired in the air, used tear gas, and arrested many people. Among those taken into custody were four women — Sadiya, Samina, Aseela, and Mehtab — along with human rights activist Abdullah Baloch. Even after 20 hours, their location is unknown, and no legal action has been taken.
Who is Tommy Robinson?
Tommy Robinson’s real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. He became famous in the UK as the founder of the English Defence League (EDL), a far-right group known for its anti-Islam views and violent protests between 2009 and 2013.
Robinson often speaks out against immigration and Islam. He also criticizes British authorities for not doing enough about crimes like grooming gangs. Over the years, he’s been in jail for assault (2005), mortgage fraud (2014), and contempt of court (2019). In one case, he filmed people on trial for child abuse, which could have affected the court’s decision.
He claims he’s being punished for speaking the truth and has gained support online. Earlier this year, Elon Musk, the owner of X, supported Robinson. Musk even restored his account and questioned why Robinson was in jail, calling it unfair.
