Is Goa losing its charm? A tourist’s terrifying ordeal raises questions about safety in the popular paradise.
A Dream Trip Turns Nightmare
Goa, known for its beaches and vibrant culture, has long been a favorite getaway for travelers. However, a recent incident has left a tourist traumatized and vowing never to return.
A Reddit user shared his horrifying experience near Madgaon railway station, where he was allegedly assaulted by locals over a minor traffic dispute. What started as a relaxing vacation quickly turned into a nightmare.

The Incident: What Happened?
The tourist, who rented a car to avoid the scorching heat, was driving to Madgaon station after dropping his girlfriend at the airport. He claims two men on a two-wheeler accused him of cutting them off, though he insists there was no contact.
Things escalated when the men followed him to the station, blocked his car, and threatened to smash his windshield. “The moment I opened the window, he punched me straight up,” the tourist wrote. He was repeatedly hit and verbally abused, all while rushing to return the rental car and catch his train.
Growing Concerns Over Tourist Safety
This isn’t an isolated incident. Recently, a tourist from Andhra Pradesh was killed in a drunken brawl, adding to concerns about safety in Goa.
Many social media users echoed similar fears, with one commenting, “Mob justice is becoming the new norm in the country.”
Will Tourists Think Twice About Goa?
While Goa remains a top travel destination, such incidents are tarnishing its reputation. The tourist’s story has sparked debates: Is Goa still safe for visitors, or is it time for authorities to step in?
