Trump is back in the spotlight—and this time, he’s dropping a cool $90 billion in Pennsylvania. Speaking at the first-ever Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit in Pittsburgh, Trump announced a huge wave of private investments from tech and energy giants. The goal? Make Pennsylvania the center of America’s new AI economy.
Standing at Carnegie Mellon University, Trump said, “We’re building a future right here in Pittsburgh. This is the biggest investment package in the state’s history.”

Trump spoke for about 30 minutes. He said 20 major companies from the energy and tech world are teaming up. They’ll build data centers, train workers in AI, and power it all with Pennsylvania’s natural gas and nuclear energy.
Senator Dave McCormick, who hosted the event, called it a turning point. He said Pittsburgh has the brains, energy, and labor to lead this new AI wave. “This isn’t just a photo op,” McCormick said. “This is tens of thousands of real jobs.”
One big name mentioned? Westinghouse. Trump said the company will build 10 nuclear reactors across the country. He also claimed credit for helping close a $14 billion deal between Nippon Steel and U.S. Steel to boost the Mon Valley.

AI and Energy: The New Power Couple
Data centers are the heart of AI. But they use a massive amount of energy. That’s where Pennsylvania steps in—with its deep roots in energy and top-tier universities.
Executives from Amazon, Alphabet, Anthropic, EQT, Blackstone, and PNC were at the summit. Many said this is just the beginning. “We have the tools to lead this transformation,” said PNC CEO Bill Demchak.
This big reveal follows Amazon’s own $20 billion data center investment in the state last month. Now with Trump’s latest announcement, Pennsylvania’s future looks more wired—and more powerful—than ever.
Protestors Push Back
Not everyone cheered. On the CMU campus, student groups painted “Protest the Summit” on The Fence. Demonstrators said the event favored big corporations and ignored climate change and privacy concerns.
Police used pepper spray after protestors blocked streets and clashed with officers. No arrests were reported.
Still, the Show Goes On
Despite protests, the summit marked a huge moment for Pennsylvania. Trump called it the start of a “golden age” for American workers. “We’re going to run this country better than ever before,” he said. “And it starts right here in Pittsburgh.”
The plan now is to build even more data centers, create thousands of jobs, and make western Pennsylvania the beating heart of AI in America.
