Trump’s Surprising Comment on Canada’s Election – He Doesn’t Care if Liberals beat Conservatives in Canada

U.S. President Donald Trump recently shared his thoughts on Canada’s upcoming federal election. During an interview, Trump said he doesn’t mind if Canada’s ruling Liberal Party wins over the opposition Conservatives.

“I don’t care,” Trump said when host Laura Ingraham suggested his tough stance on Canada could help the Liberals. “I think it’s easier to deal with a Liberal. Maybe they’ll win, but I don’t really care.”

Trump Criticizes Conservative Leader Poilievre

Trump also had harsh words for Pierre Poilievre, the leader of Canada’s Conservative Party. “The conservative that’s running is, stupidly, no friend of mine. I don’t know him, but he said negative things,” Trump said. “When he says negative things, I couldn’t care less.”

Poilievre has positioned himself as a strong opponent of the current Canadian government. He has been critical of the U.S. government’s economic policies and has used the slogan “Canada First” in response to American trade pressures. He has also linked new Liberal leader Mark Carney to former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who stepped down due to low approval ratings.

Liberal Party Gains Support in Close Election

Canada’s election, set to take place by October 20, is expected to be a close race. The Liberals were previously behind in polls, but after Trudeau’s exit and Carney’s appointment as leader, they have gained significant support. Some recent polls even show them overtaking the Conservatives.

The Liberals have tried to connect Poilievre to Trump, calling him a right-wing populist. A recent Liberal Party ad claimed Poilievre follows Trump’s political style, highlighting his support for anti-government protests during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Liberal Party spokesperson also criticized Poilievre, saying he “would give in to Trump’s demands.”

The Conservative Party has not yet responded to Trump’s comments or the changing election trends.

As Canada’s election heats up, Trump’s remarks may influence public opinion and add more tension to the already complex relationship between Canada and the U.S.
